What is Avana for?
Avana 200 mg tablets are used to treat male erectile dysfunction (impotence), which is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection suitable for sexual activity in the penis because of insufficient blood flow to the penis. Avana 200mg tablets relax the blood vessels in the penis by increasing blood flow and causing erection, which is a natural response to sexual arousal. However, Avana 200 mg pills will only work if you are sexually aroused.

How does Avana work?
Avana 200 mg tablets contain avanafil, a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men. During sexual stimulation, nitric oxide is released in the penile erectile tissue, which activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase. This enzyme increases levels of a chemical called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which relaxes penile blood vessels and allows blood to fill erectile spongy tissues, causing an erection. Another enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) breaks down cGMP, preventing blood flow to the penis, which causes erection loss. Avanafil in Avana 200mg tablets works on the erectile tissue of the penis by inhibiting the action of PDE5 and increasing blood flow, causing an erection. This action of avanafil in Avana 200 mg tablets resolves erectile dysfunction by allowing the natural process of sexual stimulation to activate the cGMP mechanism to achieve and maintain an erection.

How long is Avana?
Avana 200 mg tablets should be taken within the hour before intercourse and in most cases will help you get an erection in about 30 minutes, which lasts for about 4 hours, provided you are sexually aroused. Avana 200mg tablets do not work without agitation.

What are the side effects of Avana?
The most commonly reported side effects with Avana 200 mg tablets are headache, dizziness or light-headedness, flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion (heartburn) and nausea. Less common side effects include visual disturbances, increased tear formation making the eyes watery, changes in blood pressure (hypo and hypertension), sleepiness, shortness of breath (shortness of breath), pain (in the back joints, abdomen).

When should Avana not be used?
Avana 200 mg tablets should not be used if:

you are allergic to avanafil or any of the ingredients in Avana

are taking any nitrate medications such as nitroglycerin for angina as this can lead to a severe drop in blood pressure

you have liver or kidney disease

you have a condition where intercourse is inadvisable due to cardiovascular or heart problems, or you have had a heart attack or stroke in the last 6 months

have abnormally high or low blood pressure

you have an eye disease, such as non-arterial anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), that causes blindness, or you have retinitis pigmentosa

have conditions that may predispose you to priapism (erections lasting 4 hours or more) such as anatomical deformation of the penis, sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia

drink large amounts of alcohol or grapefruit juice

you are taking medicines that may interact with Avana or may increase the risk of side effects, antibiotics such as erythromycin and rifampicin, verapamil or diltiazem (for high blood pressure), ritonavir or saquinavir for HIV, antifungals such as itraconazole or ketaconazole , non-selective alpha-blockers such as doxazosin for high blood pressure, tamsulosin and prazosin for an enlarged prostate, nitrates such as glyceryl trinitrate for angina and other heart conditions.
